Performing Artist turned Podcast Host Forms New Brand of Podcaster

My name is James Newcomb, and I began my first podcast in January 2015.

I was a professional trumpet player at the time, employed by the U.S. Army stationed in Korea. I knew my time in the military was coming to an end, and I just couldn't bear the thought of doing the standard "gigging and teaching" regimen so many freelance musicians do.

Or worse, getting a "real job."

I had heard of several folks who were doing quite well with their own podcasts, so I decided to throw my hat in the ring. I had narrated a few audiobooks before this, so I knew my voice was a marketable asset.

Now, nearly 10 years later I have launched several shows under my own name, and have helped many others do the same, using my "artistic touch" to give these shows a distinct flair from other podcasts on the market.

I Became "The Guy" for a Well-Known Podcast

In 2018, I replied to the Facebook version of a help-wanted ad for a very profitable show that was looking for an audio editor. I had the chops, and thankfully was given the job.

I treated this "other" show as though it were my own, and the experience caused me to realize that I have a strong passion for...

Helping shows other than my own succeed.

I saw how my own background as a professional musician gave me a distinct viewpoint from other podcast consultants, that of an artist.

After giving this some thought, voila! The term Podcast Artistry™ was born.

Why "Artistry"?

There's actually a lot more to the name Podcast Artistry™ than what might appear on the surface.

Artists are often leaders when it comes to cultural issues, for art can communicate ideas, emotions and concepts for which mere words are inadequate.

So while podcasts are primarily a medium in which the spoken word is dominant, those who partner with Podcast Artistry™ do so in order to bring a measure of integrity to their show that other production agencies cannot provide.
